It started with one book. I had no intent to do a second book, nor a third. I didn’t even WANT to do the first book, but I HAD to. Do you know what I mean?

It was an overwhelming compelled state to be obedient to what God placed in my heart. I had so many everyday cross photos that I had to share them. I had been writing about the photos and faith for years (sharing on social media). I had to organize them in a way to be MORE—to help others find what I did! 💫

🔑Back Story & Faith Takeaway: When I started taking photos of crosses in late 2015 and with a focused attention to them in January 2016, I had no intent to do anything with the photos. THEN, as I started taking steps of faith, I started seeing “everyday cross” images. I captured them because they were significant to me. Again, with no intent to do anything with them. I only had a few but for some reason I took photos of them.

🔑That’s how good the Cross is. It leads you. And with an open heart, anything is possible.

Reaching your Goals: Sticking to something is harder than the first step of narrowing your focus. Why?👇

🔑Because time and time again you will have to follow through on ‘Saying No’ to other things, other people, and your own scattered thinking, frustration and doubt. This is the implementation and execution stage. The first stage is knowing and saying No to distractors so you can say Yes to your goals, what God placed in you to DO (see recent post if you missed it).

🔑Be ready for this second stage where it is hard. It takes A LOT work. Not just to DO, but to stand firm in it. To DO and not go back to what you used to do and what was so easy (read comfort). You will be stretched. It won’t feel great, so be ready for it and prepare your mind. Don’t let others woo you into false doubt or listen to their encouragement to take the easy road. You are in the “Suck It Up Buttercup” stage that lasts a longer than you want it to. Don’t believe the lies the Devil will send you.

🔑You’ll remember times of ease and work you used to do. People will give you unsolicited advice that you will have to ignore. Even well-intended people will give you thoughts that you will have to ignore. They don’t know what is for you to do. It will take prayer to stay on your path.

For me, this past year, I tuned down multiple offers for greater money for my trained professional career (25 years senior level Human Resources experience), so I could focus my attention and efforts towards my faith-based business —everyday cross photography, writing, creating and publishing a new book and develop a new product line of art prints this year. Over and over I had to say No. Don’t doubt your made up mind when it gets hard. I kept saying no—to new things and past things that came back around (a past relationship to re-unite-No. Prior work focus-No. A negative friend-No-time to cut).

“Stand firm. Let nothing move you.” 1 Corinthians 15:58

I remember her asking: “Is your work shown at a gallery?” I said “No, I’m just selling direct right now.” She commented that my photography was so peaceful and authentic. You bet I remember that—almost 7 years later. ♥️

➡️Swipe to see Before and After photos. It’s a beautiful blooming bougainvillea in the shape of a cross. At the time I took this photo I didn’t know that 5 months later it would be gone: enter redevelopment: pre-tear down of the building that once grew the blooming vines shaping the cross.

🔑I was shocked to see the Bougainvillea discarded and gone. But mostly I was in awe & delighted surprise! 💫 I’ve learned to take the shot. I captured the moment. God is so good! This beautiful pink blooming plant lives on in my newest devotional book. The devil of doubt is not going to hold me back. Don’t let doubt stop you. Take steps of faith!
